Hydrometallurgy Technical Manager
Location: Paris, France
In line with its decision to position itself as a key player in the energy transition, the company has decided to focus in the battery recycling industry for electric vehicles and in the manufacture of Active Cathode Materials for electric vehicles.
To this end, the company has developed, in cooperation with a leading Chinese player in this industry, a project for an industrial platform bringing together on the same site in Dunkirk a plant for the production of precursors for cathode active materials (P-CAM), a plant for the production of cathode active materials (CAM) and a plant for the recycling of batteries and production scrap.
The treatment of hydrometallurgy consists in the transformation of black mass or cathode active materials from the pre-treatment of EoL batteries or gigafactories production waste, in reusable material (high-purity salts, precursors of anode or cathode materials) to manufacture new batteries and thus recycle them in a closed loop.
Responsibilities
- Manage the team of engineers responsible for the several process technologies dedicated to hydrometallurgy (lixiviation, impurities removal, liquid/liquid extraction and crystallization)
- Guarantee the definition and the performances of the process for treating the active mass resulting from pre-treatment of battery recycling and gigafactory production scrap, in collaboration with various entities (R&D sites, pilot unit,.. )
- Finalise the technical choices for the hydrometallurgical process,
- Manage, organise, analyse and consolidate hydrometallurgy results from pilots and demonstrators
- Manage and coordinate the qualification test of products from the recycling process (technical discussions with customers, specifications,… )
Coordinate the technical work with the industrialisation team to ensure the basic design process by providing the technical data needed.
- Participate in setting up collaborations with players in the sector (black mass suppliers, chemical product suppliers, pre-treatment operators,… )
- Monitor and benchmark technologies and processes for battery recycling focusing on hydrometallurgy
